Hi! I’m Caitlin.

Welcome to my blog! 

I am an engineer, wife, and mom of two amazing little girls and a few pets.  I provide structural engineering services for homeowners and industry professionals ranging from small home remodels to large high-end custom homes.  I’m here as a resource for homeowners, professionals, and others in the industry, to plan and execute home projects with as much information to plan ahead and avoid surprises as much as possible.

My story…

I grew up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, mostly north of the Seattle area, and in the San Juan Islands.  I met my husband in middle school, and we’ve been together ever since.  We attended Washington State University in Pullman, WA where we both got engineering degrees.  We settled down north of Seattle and began working, starting our family, and growing our own businesses and passions.

Why Engineering?

My degree is in Civil Engineering.  After working for several years after college, gaining experience in projects ranging from small residences up to industrial concrete and steel buildings, police and fire stations, and even large wood and concrete apartment buildings, I sat for the Professional Engineer exam and obtained my PE license.  For me, working in structural engineering is the perfect balance of creativity and problem solving, with precision, and a little bit of math.  The best part about this industry is that it is ever-changing.  There is always something new to learn, and a ton of different ways to accomplish the same things.

For fun…

Outside of working I love spending time with my family, sewing, crafting, and helping my girls develop their own passions, creativity and curiosities.  We also have several home improvement plans in the works at any given time, and are growing our family-owned laser engraving business.
